Introduction to Goku Z2

Balthazar's Introduction

The public release version of a unique, Street Fighter-inspired version of Goku is finally here !
After nearly 4 years, 4 literations and 3 coders, we can finally give the public what they've been waiting for for a long time !

For me, it all started out as Super Butouden-sized character, but with more fluid animations and a more Street Fighter-feel to it's gameplay; meaning balanced, and not 1-button-press-100 hit combo-type of DBZ Mugen character. I wanted to stay away from that.

Eventually, after my first coder seemed to stop caring, so did I, and then I began to make a larger-scaled version of Goku, one that could fit with the Street Fighter cast. People seemed to like my sprites (I used a large variation of bases for his moves, ranging from all sorts of characters from SNK, to Capcom and a few Shin Butouden sprites), and I got Kratos as a coder for this version of Goku. He got short on time to work on Mugen, so I was without a coder again. Luckily, at this time, his sprites were even more popular, and finding a new coder wasn't very hard. Actually, it was hard for me to pick one that I knew was up for the job and could take him to the next level.

Enter Cybaster.

It was a bless to have him as my coder. He translated my ideas and visions well, and came with good ones of his own too. He'd code a move of mine, I'd give him some feedback, and BAM in the next update the move was flawless.
We were pretty much on the same page concerning the ideas for Goku's gameplay and how his overall feel and moves should look like. I couldn't be happier with the result, and I thank him for it!

I had started on Vegeta's sprites, and putting him next to Goku, I felt he was too big, since Vegeta is a fairly short guy compared to Goku. I trimmed Vegeta somewhat, but still wasn't happy with how they looked side-by-side. Then began the 4th literation of Goku's sprites. Which means : I've been updating his ENTIRE sheet of God knows how many sprites, and I am about halfway done. The work is tedious, but the result is great. I love his latest appearance.

Mugen has gotten its share of Gokus in the past, but I feel this is the one that will turn people's heads. In a good way of course !

As this release is somewhat a 85% release, you'll surely note some inconsistency in his sprites, seeing how I only got half way with the final updating process.
Not to worry, I do plan to update all of the remaining animations to the latest standard before the next public release.

All I can say is, I hope you have a spot in your Mugen roster for Cybalthazar's Goku Z2, because I think you'll very much enjoy playing as him.

Balthazar

Cybaster's Introduction

My introduction won't be as long as Balthazar's, since he pretty much covered everything. This is my third character for Mugen, Goku Z2, sprited by the very talented Balthazar.

After finishing Batman a few months ago, I had no will to code another character immediately. However, Balthazar had just lost his coder for the second time, and was in need of a good coder to put life to his wonderful Dragon Ball Z sprites. He kindly asked me if I was willing to do so, and I accepted. Not putting such nice sprites to good use would really have been a huge loss, and I can't thank him enough for giving me the opportunity to work with him on this character.

Building on Kratos' alpha version of Goku Z2 and using Batman's code as a base, here comes a new Goku for Mugen, which will hopefully bring some novelty to the Dragon Ball cast made for Mugen, with a new type of gameplay and "never seen before" graphics. I hope you'll enjoy him. :)

Cybaster

If you find infinites, please report.
If you think some moves or combos are really unbalanced, please report or contact me, I will see what I can do.

Note that this character was built for Winmugen (Plus). At this point, I cannot ensure everything will work correctly in Mugen 1.0, moreover in widescreen resolution. It will definitely have bugs if you play with it using Mugen 1.1, since the zooming feature isn't taken into account in this version of Goku Z2.
